Roy “Bucky” Whiteman, Jr., MBA,
PT
A graduate from West Virginia University School
of Physical Therapy in 1985, Bucky worked as a staff physical therapist
at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center of Cumberland from 1985 to
1988. His areas of expertise include the evaluation and treatment
of biomechanical foot and ankle dysfunction as well as lower extremity
(foot/ankle) rehabilitation.
In addition to post-surgical foot care and trauma
and overuse injuries of the foot and ankle, other areas of special
interest include sports-related injuries, and acute/chronic orthopedic
injuries to the knee, shoulder and spine. Bucky also holds a Masters
degree in Business Administration, and has served as an instructor
and clinical instructor at Allegany College in the Physical Therapist
Assistant Program, and for West Virginia University in the Physical
Therapy Program.
Bucky is an active member of the APTA, Orthopedic,
Sports Medicine, and Private Practice Sections. He has also served
as a board member of the Physical Therapy Providers Network of Maryland
and West Virginia. |

Amy Adams, MPT
A graduate of Shenandoah University in Winchester,
VA. Amy received her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy. She
joined Progressive Physical Therapy as a staff therapist following
graduation in May 1997 and began as director of aquatics in March
2002. Her special interests include back injuries and rehabilitation
and women’s health issues such as pre and post natal musculoskeletal
problems and exercise prescription,
fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis.
She received her certification in women’s health
through Texas Women’s University Physical Therapy Department
in August 2002. Amy is also a Certified Pilates Instructor (CPI) and
a Certified Pool Operator (CPO). She is an active member of the APTA,
as well as the Women’s Health and aquatics Sections of the APTA. |

Anna Helmstetter, PTA
A graduate of Frostburg State University, Anna
received her Bachelor's degree in Biology in August 1995. Anna is
also a graduate of Allegany College's Physical Therapy Assistant Program
in August 1999. Following graduation, Anna worked for two months with
a local pediatric physical therapist.
Before joining Progressive Physical Therapy in May
2002, she worked for Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Center
in Martinsburg, WV, with a focus on Aquatic Physical Therapy. Her special
interests include aquatics, post-surgical shoulder, knee and ankle
injuries, as well as sports related injuries and pediatrics. Anna is
also an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association
and a Certified Pool Operator (CPO). |

John Loar, PT
John graduated from the West Virginia School of
Physical Therapy in 1997. John worked at Memorial Hospital and Medical
Center for 6 years in a variety of settings to include inpatient rehabilitation,
as well as the out-patient center. John joined Progressive Physical
Therapy in August 2003 and now serves as Director of Industrial Rehabilitation
Services.
His interests include performance of functional capacity
evaluations and work rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, orthopedic
injuries to include shoulder, knee, low back and cervical spine, and
neurological rehabilitation. John is an active member of the APTA and
is currently licensed in both Maryland and West Virginia. |

Lisa A. Rhodes, MPT
A 2003 graduate of West Virginia University’s
Division of Physical Therapy, Lisa
began her career in Winchester, VA
working in outpatient orthopedics. After moving back to the area,
she has worked in both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation.
Lisa joined the staff at Progressive’s
Cumberland clinic in June 2007. Her special interest
include neurological dysfunctions, knee
rehabilitation, sacro-iliac dysfunction and sports related injuries.
Lisa is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, as
well as the orthopedic section of the APTA. |

Christopher T. Whiteman, MPT
Chris joined Progressive Physical Therapy
following graduation from Allegany
College’s Physical Therapist Assistant
program in 1996. Chris returned to West Virginia University’s
school of Physical Therapy in June of 2002, received his master’s
degree in Physical Therapy in June
of 2005 and returned to full-time
clinical practice in July 2005 at
the Cumberland facility.
Following his second year at the University, Chris
received the Capstone award for outstanding clinical research. His
special interests include rehabilitation of the shoulder, knee, foot/ankle,
and cervical spine as well as post-surgical rehabilitation. Chris also
has a special interest in sports-related injuries. He is an active
member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Orthopedics
section of the APTA. |

Crystal Yoder, PTA
Crystal Yoder began part-time employment
with Progressive Physical Therapy in the fall of 2004,
following her graduation from Allegany
College of Maryland’s
Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
She also worked for School Therapy Services for 3 years, addressing
the physical needs of children in Allegany County schools.
In June 2007, she came on full time at Progressive
where she treats patients both on land
and in the aquatic environment. Crystal’s special interests includes
aquatics and pediatrics, as well as general
and sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder and back. Crystal
is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and
aquatics section of the APTA. |

Jared Adams, COTA
A graduate of Allegany College’s Occupational
Therapy Assistant program in 2001.
Jared joined our team in the hand
/ upper extremity clinic that same year upon the completion of his
clinical internship, which focused on rehabilitation of the hand.
He continues to expand his practice skills
that will allow us to better serve the needs of
our community. For example, areas in
driver’s rehabilitation
and adaptive needs for activities of
daily living. His rapport with clients is his greatest achievement.
Jared is also an active member of the American Occupational Therapy
Association. |

Neil Blake, ORT/L
Neil graduated from Mount Aloysius College in 2004.
Upon graduation he worked at an inpatient psychiatric facility and
was promoted to the head of the Allied Therapy department. He then
went on to pursue an opportunity to work in an inpatient hospital
that included evaluating and treating patients in the areas of neurological
dysfunction, orthopedics, and trauma.
Neil joined Progressive Physical Therapy’s
Occupational Therapy Department in January
2008. He is currently a member of the
American Society of Hand Therapy and working to become a Certified
Hand Therapist. He is also a member of the American Occupational Therapy
Association. |

Shauna Fiorentino, OTR/L, CHT
Shauna is a certified hand therapist. This denotes
her as a specialist in the treatment of the upper quarter. This includes
the cervical spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. She is the director
of Occupational Therapy Services and has 13 years of experience serving
the Cumberland area.
Shauna is a graduate of the University of Findlay
and has completed several internships and affiliations with a focus
on hand rehabilitation including the Curtis Hand Center at Union Memorial
Hospital in Baltimore, and Rancho Los Amigos (burn unit) in Los Angeles.
Shauna also has a background in therapeutic massage which she incorporates
into treatment when appropriate.
Shauna is a member of the faculty, as well as a clinical
instructor for Allegany College of Maryland. She stays current with
the newest advancements and techniques as a member of the American
Society of Hand Therapists. She is also a member of the American Occupational
Therapy Association. |

Karen Shambaugh, COTA/L
A graduate of Allegany College’s Occupational
Therapy Assistant program in 2000,
Karen joined Progressive Physical
Therapy upon the completion of her clinical internship, which focused
on hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. This enabled her to help
build the program at the hand clinic at Progressive.
She has extensive continuing education in all aspects
of upper extremity care and is specializing in the area of lymphedema
management. In addition she also has experience in the treatment of
developmental and neurological dysfunctions of the pediatric population.
Karen is also an active member of the American Occupational Therapy
Association. |
