Treatment Options:

Patient Education

Patient education is a critical component of treatment. It is essential for you to understand your condition so that you will internalize the information that is presented to you can use that information to aid yourself in the recovery process. Patient education focuses on anatomy and function along with postural education and dietary information.

Manual Therapy Techniques

If a musculoskeletal dysfunction is identified, special  external and internal (intra-vaginal) techniques can be utilized to restore muscle integrity and length and relax muscles. This will decrease pain and restore function.

Biofeedback Training

Using special sensors placed either internally or externally,  the biofeedback unit allows you to see the unconscious physiological processes that are happening within your pelvic floor in a visual signal presented to you on a computer screen. This allows you to visualize correct pelvic floor contractions and allows you to see the work that you are producing so you can be sure  that the exercises are done correctly which maximize their effect.

Therapeutic Exercise

By completing a workout that is tailored to your specific needs, you will improve muscle strength and efficiency. By improving these qualities, you will have greater stability and control of your muscles which will decrease your pain and help to control urine leakage. Your exercise program will focus on the muscles that you need to target and you will learn how to isolate the muscles that are weak within your body.
